The Clínic Barcelona is the second-best public hospital in Spain for another year
As in the previous edition of the Health Reputation Monitor (MRS), a ranking that Merco has been preparing for nine years, the Clínic Barcelona has managed to be the second-best public hospital in Spain. In addition to a general classification, the MRS also presents a classification of 34 specialties, expanding seven more with respect to 2022. The Clínic has headed five of them: Digestive System, General and Digestive System Surgery, Hematology, Nephrology and Radiodiagnosis.

If we have said that Clínic Barcelona has led five of the MRS classifications by specialties (Digestive System, General and Digestive System Surgery, Hematology, Nephrology and Radiodiagnosis), it has also held the leading positions in other services. It has seven specialties in second position: Dermatology, Endocrinology and nutrition, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Rheumatology, Urology and Clinical Analysis. There are also three services in third position: Cardiology, Otorhinolaryngology and Psychiatry. Finally, up to 11 other services have also managed to position themselves among the best 10 in Spain.

This year the MRS included classifications by autonomous community, as was done last year for the first time. In Catalonia, the Clínic hospital has led the ranking in 16 specialties: Allergology, Anaesthesiology and resuscitation, Digestive system, Cardiology, General and digestive surgery, Dermatology, Endocrinology and nutrition, Hematology, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, Rheumatology and Urology.
SPANISH REFERENCES ALSO IN HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT
Also in the MRS, in addition to the clinical specialties, the management of the centre is evaluated. In these lists, the Clínic hospital has been placed in second place in terms of Nursing Management team and third in the classification of best management teams and communication teams. In these three management lists, the Clínic has been the first hospital in Catalonia.
WHAT IS THE HEALTH REPUTATION MONITOR?
The MRS is an independent study that analyses the reputation of the entire Spanish healthcare system, and through which the actors in the healthcare system have been evaluated based on three assessments: the first, the assessment carried out by medical professionals, 4.005 hospital specialist doctors and 307 family and community medicine doctors; the second the assessment of 2.304 nurses, 223 hospital managers and directors, 320 nursing managers, 82 directors of pharmaceutical companies, 70 hospital pharmacy managers, 532 patient association managers, as well as 110 journalists and health informants; and, finally, all these assessments are complemented by the third analysis of more than 3.254 specific objective indicators of 34 clinical services.
