Clínic Barcelona among the best hospitals in the world in 2024

For five years, Newsweek magazine, in collaboration with Statista, has carried out a ranking to classify the best hospitals in the world, known as World’s Best Hospitals, with the aim of offering a tool to patients and families to choose the most appropriate centre for your attention. The hospital Clínic Barcelona has once again managed to be in this ranking, which includes the 250 best hospital centres in the world in 2024, improving the classification achieved last year by three positions. Thus, the centre has been able to climb from position number 63 to 59. It is also one of the best hospitals in Spain, behind only the La Paz University Hospital and the 12 de Octubre University Hospital.

HOW HAVE THEY CHOSEN THE BEST HOSPITALS IN THE WORLD IN 2024?

To carry out this classification, the opinion of more than 85,000 health experts, such as doctors, managers and other health professionals, has been taken into account, in addition to patient satisfaction and clinical indicators. The score was based, above all, on the level of general satisfaction, but other metrics on aspects such as hygiene and the doctor-patient ratio were also considered.

On this occasion, to choose the best hospitals in the world in 2024, more than 2,400 hospitals from 30 countries have been evaluated, including the United States, most of Western Europe and Scandinavia, ten Asian countries, Australia and countries in other parts of America. This year the hospitals of Chile and Malaysia were newly added to the list.

THE BEST HOSPITALS IN SPAIN, ALSO AMONG THE BEST IN THE WORLD IN 2024

Spain has managed to include up to thirteen institutions among the 250 best hospital centres in the world. In addition to the La Paz University Hospital (46), the following have also been included: the 12 de Octubre University Hospital (54) and the Barcelona Clinic (59), the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (70), the Gregorio Marañón General University Hospital (76), the University of Navarra Clinic (80), the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital (144), the La Fe University and Politècnic Hospital (181), the San Carlos Clinical Hospital (183), the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital (190) the Jiménez Díaz Foundation University Hospital (203), the Puerta de Hierro University Hospital (221) and the Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital (234).
