barnaclínic+ launches “Salud (t) Plus”, a podcast giving voice to patients, families, and professionals
barnaclínic+ is launching “Salud (t) Plus”, a new podcast that invites listeners into the consultation room to share real experiences and health insights, enriched by those who live them firsthand. In each episode, patients, relatives, and professionals from barnaclínic+ sit together to talk about conditions, treatments, and lived experiences, revealing the most human side of medicine.
The first episode, published on October 15, coincides with the anniversary of Ares Teixidó’s type 1 diabetes diagnosis. Ares —journalist, actress, and TV presenter— shares, in a warm and honest conversation, how she has learned to live with the disease and how her life has changed since she began using an insulin pump, an automated infusion system that acts like an artificial pancreas.
She is joined in this discussion by Dr. Jesús Blanco, endocrinologist at barnaclínic+; Montse Granados, advanced practice nurse in diabetes; and Esperanza Domínguez, Ares’ mother, who offers the emotional perspective of families who accompany the daily journey of the disease.
“Since I started using the insulin pump, I feel like I have a co-pilot in life. It’s that invisible companion who takes care of me, who gives me freedom and peace of mind. Thanks to this treatment, my quality of life —and my family’s— has completely changed.”
During the conversation, the professionals explain how hybrid closed-loop systems work —a technology that automates insulin delivery and significantly improves glucose control and quality of life for people with type 1 diabetes. “We move from managing the disease manually to living alongside an intelligent system that makes decisions for the patient,” says Dr. Blanco. “It’s a paradigm shift —and also an enormous emotional relief for families.”

The episode closes with an especially emotional moment: Ares’ surprise on learning that her HbA1c dropped from 9.5% to 7.7% in just a few weeks. “You’ve given me my life back,” she says through tears. “My mother gave me life, and you’ve given it back to me again.”
“Salud (t) Plus”: a human and honest look at health
With this new format, barnaclínic+ strengthens its commitment to person-centred care and the value of shared experience. Each episode of “Salud (t) Plus” is recorded with patients and professionals from different specialties to bring medicine, research, and personal experience closer to society.
