International Nurses Day 2026 recognizes nursing talent, innovation and leadership at the Clinic

Dia de l'Infermeria

Under the slogan “Driving Nursing 5.0 Forward Together”, the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona celebrated a new edition of International Nurses Day this May 12, a day focused on recognizing the strategic role of nurses in transforming healthcare systems, advancing clinical innovation, promoting nursing research, and humanizing patient care.

The event, held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and live streamed on YouTube, combined institutional recognition, professional reflection, and support for nursing education and research, consolidating its position as one of the main annual events organized by the Nursing Directorate of Hospital Clínic.

As every year, barnaclínic+ played a key role in the event, collaborating in its funding and, especially, in supporting several scholarship and grant programs aimed at promoting research, clinical intensification, and advanced training for nursing professionals at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona.

This support is part of barnaclínic+’s commitment to continuous healthcare improvement, innovation, and the development of healthcare talent, reinvesting its profits into projects that directly contribute to the hospital’s clinical, academic, and scientific progress.

The event began with opening remarks by Saray Alen, Director of Nursing, and Josep Maria Campistol, General Director of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. Afterwards, nurse, actress, and art therapist Mariona Casas presented the talk “Hiding in the Unit”, followed by the presentation of the ‘Honorary Nurse’ 2026 award to Carme Minguillón, an inpatient care nurse from ICMID.

Nursing, leadership, and innovation: a key profession for the future of healthcare

One of the highlights of the event was the round table discussion “Role Models Inspiring the Future of Nursing”, moderated by journalist Laia Sánchez and featuring leading professionals from different clinical areas of Hospital Clínic.

The session addressed topics related to nursing leadership, healthcare innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the evolving role of nursing within an increasingly technological, specialized, and patient-centered healthcare environment.
