VAGINOPLASTY IN BARCELONA
This type of male-to-female transgender surgery can be performed using two techniques: penile inversion vaginoplasty or colon vaginoplasty. The vast majority of patients are performed with the penile skin inversion technique, reserving colon vaginoplasty for some specific cases. The choice of one or other type of vaginoplasty will be determined by the surgeon depending on the patient's characteristics.

WHAT DOES THE SURGERY CONSIST OF?
1 - Creation of the vaginal cavity
The first step the surgeon will take is to create the vaginal cavity; between the prostate and the urethra at the top and the rectum at the bottom.
2 - Lining of the vaginal cavity
The vaginal cavity created is lined with the skin of the penis or, in the case of a colon vaginoplasty, with the intestinal flap.
3 - Orchidectomy
The next step will be orchidectomy, the operation to remove the testicles.
4 - Penectomy
The penis is then removed, preserving a piece of the glans and foreskin, to be the clitoris and clitoral hood and labia minora, and the urethra is shortened.
5 - Aesthetic finish of the neovagina
Finally, with the remnants, the surgeon will construct labia majora, labia minora and a clitoris with a clitoral hood.
