barnaclínic+ reaffirms its commitment to nursing excellence on International Nurses Day 2025

Día de la Enfermera 2025

On May 12, Hospital Clínic Barcelona celebrated International Nurses Day 2025 with an institutional event focused on the humanisation of care in the digital era. The event, held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona, highlighted the essential role of nurses in healthcare, as well as their ability to combine innovation, technology and patient-centred care. As every year, barnaclínic+ joined the celebration by actively supporting research, advanced training and nursing innovation projects developed at Hospital Clínic Barcelona. This commitment reflects the institution’s dedication to clinical excellence, professional development and the continuous improvement of the patient experience.

Humanising care in an increasingly digital healthcare environment

Under the slogan “Humanised care in the digital era: balancing technology and patient-centred care”, the event reflected on the major current challenges facing the nursing profession and on how to preserve proximity, empathy and humanisation in a healthcare environment shaped by technological transformation.

The event began with a welcome speech by Saray Alen, Chief Nursing Officer at Hospital Clínic, followed by the conversation “Caring and being cared for” with 3Cat journalist and oncology patient Mireia Segú, who shared her personal experience with the hospital’s nursing professionals.

One of the highlights of the event was the round table discussion “Redefining the future: humanisation as the cornerstone of care”, moderated by Mireia Segú and featuring healthcare professionals from different hospital departments as well as patients. During the session, participants shared experiences and reflections on the future of care, the impact of technology and the importance of continuing to provide close, personalised healthcare.

barnaclínic+ promotes nursing research and training

One of the central moments of the celebration was, once again, the presentation of scholarships, intensification programmes and training initiatives aimed at nursing professionals at Hospital Clínic Barcelona.

In this context, barnaclínic+ participated in funding several projects linked to the barnaclínic+ Intensification Programmes and the barnaclínic+ Sabbatical Programmes, initiatives designed to promote nursing research, healthcare innovation and specialised training.

The presentation of the grants funded by barnaclínic+ included the participation of Dr Jaume Balust, Medical Director of barnaclínic+, who was responsible for presenting the scholarships and awards promoted by the institution, reaffirming barnaclínic+’s commitment to developing nursing talent and advancing healthcare excellence.

Among the projects recognised this year were studies related to post-surgical recovery, type 1 diabetes, advanced nursing practice in cerebrovascular disease and the prevention of osteoporotic fractures, reflecting the strategic role of nursing in the evolution of healthcare systems and in improving health outcomes.

A strategic commitment to talent and healthcare excellence

For years, barnaclínic+ has maintained a strong commitment to professional talent development and to promoting highly specialised nursing, focused on innovation and excellence.

Through research, training and professional development programmes, barnaclínic+ helps strengthen the knowledge and innovation capacity of Campus Clínic professionals, encouraging the implementation of new healthcare practices and improving the quality of patient care. This commitment to research and training is part of the barnaclínic+ excellence model, based on knowledge, innovation and collaboration with Hospital Clínic Barcelona, one of the leading hospital centres nationally and internationally.

The event concluded with speeches by Dr Josep Maria Campistol, General Director of Hospital Clínic Barcelona, and Saray Alen, Chief Nursing Officer, who thanked the dedication, vocation and commitment of the more than 2,200 nursing professionals who are part of Campus Clínic.
