Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty): I look old or tired. What can I do?

Cirugía de párpados o blefaroplastia sin cicatrices. Recuperación de la blefaroplastia

I have too much skin in my upper eyelids, which makes me look tired and I look older. Is there any treatment that can help?

Redundant skin on the eyelids or dermatochalasis is very common and affects almost everyone from a certain age. This excess of skin in the upper eyelids makes the person look tired and appear older. This should be assessed by a specialist in oculoplastic surgery to rule out other associated conditions that, if not treated at the same time, could lead to unsatisfactory outcomes after surgery. The treatment for dermatochalasis is eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty, which in expert hands achieves excellent results, rejuvenating patients’ appearance.

I have bags under my eyes, lately they have been getting bigger and they also change over the course of the day, making me look tired. Is there anything that can be done?

Lower eyelid bags are usually caused by excess fat under the skin. This excess can increase over time and cause the person to look tired. As in the previous case, this must be assessed by specialists in oculoplastic surgery to rule out other associated conditions that, if not treated at the same time, could lead to unsatisfactory outcomes after eyelid surgery. As with excess skin in the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids also undergo blepharoplasty surgery, which in expert hands also achieves excellent aesthetic results.

I’m thinking of having eyelid surgery. Are there any contraindications?

There are not normally contraindications for eyelid surgery. Almost everyone can benefit from aesthetic ophthalmological treatments (blepharoplasty, Botox®, lifting, etc.). However, there may be underlying situations in which some procedures are not recommended, or the techniques used will need to be altered. For this reason, it is essential to visit an ophthalmologist specialising in oculoplastic surgery before undergoing any of these treatments. Our experts at barnaclínic+ will perform a complete examination and recommend the best treatment for you.
