What is the process of\u00a0voice feminization<\/strong>?<\/h2>\n

The process of vocal feminization<\/strong> consists of 5 different stages:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Vocal examination<\/strong><\/span>: First of all, the vocal feminization process<\/strong> starts with some explorations, carried out to obtain a complete analysis of the voice.<\/li>\n
  2. Preoperative speech therapy<\/strong><\/span>: in repeated sessions that seek to modify respiratory patterns, intonation, articulation and voice inflection. It also seeks to feminize spontaneous emissions such as laughter, crutches or coughing.<\/li>\n
  3. Surgery and recent postoperative period<\/strong><\/span>: There are several techniques described to feminize the voice<\/strong>. In the ENT Service<\/strong><\/a>, We currently feminize the voice<\/strong> by means of two techniques that look to increase pitch (fundamental frequency). One is Wendler’s glottoplasty<\/strong> and the other is known by its acronym LAVA (Laser-Assisted Voice Adjustment)<\/strong>. Once the surgery is performed, the patient must keep absolute vocal rest (no talking or whispering) for the first 10 days for optimal healing.<\/li>\n
  4. Postoperative speech therapy<\/strong><\/span>: it reinforces the results obtained so far, helps in the adaptation and recognition of the new voice, and helps in the recovery of the physiology of the vocal cords.<\/li>\n
  5. Follow-up<\/strong><\/span>: changes obtained are recorded periodically.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
