Proof of this is the new record achieved this November when <strong>the unit managed to reach 200 kidney transplants in one year<\/strong>. This figure, which represents <strong>a unique milestone in Catalonia<\/strong>, has been confirmed by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ont.es\/Paginas\/Home.aspx\">Organizaci\u00f3n Nacional de Trasplantes (ONT)<\/a> and has been achieved from the beginning of this year to the present.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>THE RECORD OF KIDNEY TRANSPLANTS IN ONE YEAR, A TEAM EFFORT<\/h2>\n<p>To achieve this record number of <strong>200 kidney transplants in one year<\/strong>, a great multidisciplinary effort has been necessary, in which the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clinicbarcelona.org\/en\/service\/urology\">Urology Service<\/a>, led by Dr\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/en\/professionals\/272\/antonio\"><strong>Antonio Alcaraz<\/strong><\/a>, of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clinicbarcelona.org\/en\/service\/nephrology-and-renal-transplant\">Nephrology Service<\/a>, led by Dr\u00a0<strong>Esteban Poch<\/strong>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/en\/kidney-transplant\/\">Kidney trasplant<\/a> Section, in charge of Dr.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/en\/professionals\/203\/fritz\"><strong>Fritz Diekmann<\/strong><\/a>. The removal of the organ can be through an incision at the level of the navel or lower abdomen or, in the case of women, through an incision in the vaginal vault.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LcoOLMoNQPk\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The use of <strong>robotic surgery in kidney transplants<\/strong> has numerous advantages since, although it is performed at the same time as open surgery, it minimises complications, prevents abdominal wall infections, and the appearance of hernias, and favours rapid recovery of the transplant patient. Robotic surgery in this type of transplant has made it possible to introduce this minimally invasive surgery in fragile patients with end-stage renal failure.<\/p>\n<div id=\"estoy-interesado\" class=\"destacat-site\">\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">TE PUEDE INTERESAR\u2026<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00b7 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/blog\/en\/blog\/alcaraz-robotic-notes-surgery-kidney-transplant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The team of Dr. Antonio Alcaraz combines robotic and NOTES surgery to perform a kidney transplant<\/a><\/h4>\n<h2>FIRST KIDNEY TRANSPLANT SECTION OF CATALONIA WITH ISO 9001:2015 CERTIFICATION<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clinicbarcelona.org\/en\/service\/nephrology-and-renal-transplant\">Kidney Transplant Section of the Cl\u00ednic Barcelona<\/a> has not only managed to surpass the <strong>record of 200 kidney transplants in one year<\/strong>, but it has also become the <strong>first section in Catalonia to obtain the ISO UNE-En ISO 9001:2015 certification by AENOR<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The working group was made up of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/en\/kidney-transplant\/\"><strong>kidney transplant specialists<\/strong><\/a> from the Nephrology and Urology services, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/en\/pancreas-surgery\/\">pancreas surgery<\/a> specialists, anaesthesiology specialists, nurses and TCAE with the support of the Clinical Quality and Safety Department of the Cl\u00ednic Barcelona. Other service professionals have also participated: administrative staff from the different areas and managers of the kidney transplant waiting list, psychologist, social worker, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/en\/professionals\/286\/barbara\">dietician-nutritionist<\/a>, cleaning staff, etc.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3858 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/acreditacion-trasplante-renal.jpg\" alt=\"Acreditaci\u00f3n trasplante renal\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/acreditacion-trasplante-renal.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/acreditacion-trasplante-renal-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The ICNU is committed to quality care, in line with the hospital\u2019s tradition, obtaining the <strong>first ISO 9001 certification in Haemodialysis<\/strong> (2013), later in <strong>Peritoneal Dialysis<\/strong> (2016), and, recently, with the <strong>ACERCA accreditation of the Consultation of Chronic Kidney Disease<\/strong>.
