At present, 60% of robotic surgeries take place in this field. The most commonly performed procedure in the last year has been\u00a0<strong>radical prostatectomy<\/strong>, a surgery used to remove the entire prostate gland and some of the tissues around it, which is mainly performed to treat\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/en\/mens-health\/diagnostico-cancer-prostata\/\"><strong>prostate cancer<\/strong><\/a>. A total of<strong>\u00a0650 operations have been carried out at the Hospital Cl\u00ednic Group since they began six years ago<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Robotic surgery for radical prostatectomy preserves more tissue, gives the surgeon a better view and reduces the margin of error. All this helps to achieve an improvements in data related to impotence and incontinence.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The other two most common procedures performed are\u00a0<strong>cystectomies<\/strong>, in which the surgeon removes the patient&#8217;s bladder and then performs a urinary diversion to allow a new way of storing urine and eliminating it from the body, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/en\/kidney-transplant\/\"><strong>kidney transplants<\/strong><\/a>. Likewise, in early October 2020, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/blog\/en\/blog\/first-uterus-transplant-in-spain\/\"><strong>first uterus transplant in Spain was carried out<\/strong><\/a><strong>,\u00a0which was partially performed with robotic surgery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h5>Robotic surgery for kidney transplantation<\/h5>\n<p>Regarding <strong>kidney transplantation<\/strong>, in 2022 the Cl\u00ednic Barcelona achieved the milestone of <strong>200 kidney transplants in one year<\/strong>; of which a large number were performed using <strong>robotic surgery<\/strong>. In fact, in 2021, the Cl\u00ednic became <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clinicbarcelona.org\/en\/news\/the-hospital-clinic-the-first-hospital-in-spain-to-carry-out-1-000-living-donor-kidney-transplants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>the<\/strong> <strong>first hospital in Spain to carry out 1,000 living donor kidney transplants<\/strong><\/a>. And of these 1,000, <strong>110 were performed using robotic surgery<\/strong>. Until then, the Cl\u00ednic had carried out <strong>more than 5,000 of any type<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Robotic surgery fer kidney transplantation offers multiple advantages for the patient and for the professionals<\/strong>. Although there is used the same time to perform the intervention as with conventional open surgery, it greatly reduces the\u00a0complications and offers a better and faster recovery for the patient. The elimination of tremors and the potential use of multi-jointed instruments that facilitate complex manoeuvres that would be difficult to perform with laparoscopic instruments are the two\u00a0<strong>main improvements that robotic surgery\u00a0<\/strong>brings in this area.<\/p>\n<p>Within\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnaclinic.com\/en\/specialties\/119\/cirugia-laparoscopica-en-el-cancer-de-colon-y-recto\"><strong>colorectal surgery<\/strong><\/a>, it is mainly used for the\u00a0<strong>treatment of cancer<\/strong>.
