What is acoustic neuroma and how can it affect quality of life
Acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor that develops on the vestibular nerve and, due to its location, can affect important neurological structures. Although it usually grows slowly and many cases can be managed with observation or radiosurgery, some patients require surgery when the tumor is large or causes significant symptoms.

During the episode, Dr. Jorge Torales explains that the most common symptoms are hearing loss and balance disorders. However, Yolanda’s case showed an unusual progression, with neurological symptoms that led to a quick diagnosis and the need for surgical intervention.

Facial paralysis is one of the possible complications associated with acoustic neuroma due to the close relationship between the tumor and the facial nerve.
