barnaclínic+ once again supports innovation and research at the 18th Annual Nursing Directorate Conference at Clínic
Last November 6, Hospital Clínic Barcelona held the 18th Annual Nursing Directorate Conference, an event that year after year highlights the commitment of Nursing Directorate professionals to research, innovation and the continuous improvement of healthcare quality. The conference, held online and attended by more than 560 registered participants, once again became a benchmark space for sharing knowledge, experiences and innovative projects developed across Campus Clínic. As in previous editions, barnaclínic+ actively participated in this initiative, reaffirming its commitment to the development of nursing at Clínic and to promoting a healthcare model based on excellence, innovation and patient-centred care.
Nursing research and innovation take centre stage
The opening session was led by Saray Alen, Chief Nursing Officer at Hospital Clínic Barcelona, who highlighted the importance of the conference as “the epicentre of research, innovation and commitment within the Nursing Directorate professional team”. During her speech, she also emphasised the adaptability, leadership and critical thinking of Clínic nursing professionals.
The conference programme included presentations of research and innovation projects developed by Nursing Directorate professionals, as well as round tables and debate sessions on best healthcare practices, quality and health innovation. Experiences related to recently defended doctoral theses were also shared, reinforcing the role of nursing as a driver of knowledge and transformation within the healthcare system.
barnaclínic+ promotes the Innovative Capsules Awards
One of the highlights of the conference was the presentation of the finalist projects of the Innovative Capsules, an initiative aimed at recognising innovative ideas capable of adding value to healthcare practice and improving the experience of patients and professionals. This year, a total of 37 projects were submitted.
In this context, barnaclínic+ once again supported the conference by funding the barnaclínic+ Innovative Capsules Awards, reaffirming its commitment to nursing innovation and knowledge generation within Clínic Barcelona.
The presentation of the awards funded by barnaclínic+ included the participation of Carles Loran, General Manager of barnaclínic+, who was responsible for presenting the awards to the winning projects, highlighting the talent, creativity and transformative capacity of the nursing professionals at Campus Clínic.
Among the recognised projects were initiatives related to early screening for urothelial carcinoma, prenatal breastfeeding care programmes for high obstetric and neonatal risk pregnancies, clinical simulation in cardiovascular ICU emergencies, patient experience and infection control strategies.
Commitment to talent and healthcare excellence
For years, barnaclínic+ has collaborated with the Nursing Directorate of Hospital Clínic Barcelona in various initiatives related to research, innovation and professional training. This collaboration is part of the institution’s commitment to talent development, continuous improvement in healthcare quality and the consolidation of Clínic as a national and international reference centre.

The conference closing session was delivered by Dr Adelaida Zabalegui, Deputy Director of Nursing Research and Education, who highlighted the importance of evidence-based practice and shared knowledge in continuing to move towards safer, more human and more innovative healthcare.
