However, this type of surgery also offers other benefits:<\/p>\n<h4>1. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Faster recovery<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Patients who undergo <strong>minimally invasive surgery<\/strong> can return to normal activities much more quickly. Mainly, thanks to the fact that, with <strong>Port Access surgery<\/strong>, <em>sternotomy<\/em> (the fracture or longitudinal division of the entire sternum) is avoided, and it, like any fracture, causes discomfort and requires weeks to heal.<\/p>\n<h4>2. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Less postoperative pain<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">By avoiding fracturing the sternum and, therefore, performing a much smaller incision, the <strong>postoperative period will be much less painful<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4>3. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Better respiratory function after surgery<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">By not distorting the chest structure and causing <strong>less pain<\/strong>, <strong>patients recover respiratory function more quickly<\/strong>. After the operation, they are able to cough and expectorate normally and this translates into<strong> less time connected to the respirator and less respiratory complications<\/strong> (pneumonia, atelectasis, etc).
